Arkansas Athletics Director Hunter Yurachek informed the University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees that he is moving forward with proposals for possible renovation to Bud Walton Arena, the Razorbacks’ on-campus basketball home.
The UA has surveyed basketball season-ticket holders and Razorback Foundation members about premium seating options and potential renovations to Bud Walton.
It also is studying the financial feasibility of adding more club suites and other changes to the facility, which holds more than 19,200. Built in 1993, it is the fifth-largest on-campus arena in the nation.
“We would like to bring that back to the board in November with the hopes of getting permission to proceed with hiring an architect,” Yurachek told board members in Fayetteville on Thursday. “I can tell you so far it’s been favorable as far as the interest in club seats.”
The UA is roughly 1,000 tickets shy of selling out every seat for every game for the upcoming season, the university announced.
Under second-year coach Eric Musselman, the Hogs finished second in the Southeastern Conference in the 2020-21 season and reached the Elite 8 round of the NCAA tournament, the furthest the team had advanced since 1995.
