An inspirational program of music and dance will highlight the annual Wave of Light Ceremony in remembrance of babies born too soon.
The event will be held on Friday, Oct. 15, 2022, on the steps of the Arkansas State Capitol at 6:30 p.m. As an international ceremony, it was created to ensure that a light or a candle would remain lit for a full 24 hours around the world. At 7 p.m. in each time zone, people are asked to light a candle, creating a wave of light that will circle the globe.
October is Pregnancy Loss and Infant Death Awareness month, and the 15th is a day of remembrance for the little ones whose time with us was too short.
The ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. with performances by Wade Derden and Cam Patterson of Fox Green, Michael Angtuaco and the Rock City Dance Center Collective.
A searchlight, which is sponsored every year by Roller Funeral Homes, will illuminate the sky over Little Rock at 7 p.m. to honor and remember all babies who have died due to miscarriage, stillbirths, neonatal death and other causes.
There is no charge to attend the event, and all families who have experienced the loss of a baby are invited.
