In 2020, Walmart has been heavily investing in new technologies and partnerships designed to bring their products to a wider audience. From drone delivery service to a new subscription service, the Bentonville retailer has taken more innovative approaches to adapt to the ever-changing retail landscape.
Walmart’s latest experiment will be on the social media app TikTok, where the company will highlight Walmart fashion items. On Friday, Dec. 18, Walmart and TikTok are partnering to have popular TikTok creators feature Walmart fashion items and allow customers to shop for these items without leaving the app.
According to Walmart U.S. chief marketing officer William White, this is a “first-of-its-kind livestream shopping experience.” In total, 10 TikTok creators will be featured during the event, and each will reveal their favorite Walmart fashion items “in a way that’s uniquely their own.”
While watching the TikTok livestream, viewers can tap on a Walmart product, add it to their cart, and buy it while continuing to watching the content.
“We’re excited to engage with TikTok on this new experience and learn what’s possible for shopping on a platform that brings its community so much joy. We can’t wait to see what we learn. And we can’t wait to see what you like, comment on, share – and shop – from the show,” White said in a corporate blog post.
The livestream will take place on Friday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. CST on the Walmart profile page on TikTok.
