Beginning in March, Walmart and CVS will be reducing their pharmacy hours due to a nationwide shortage of pharmacy staff, according to Axios.
Walmart pharmacies will reportedly close at 7 p.m. on weekdays instead of 9 p.m. Weekend hours will remain the same. Shift hours at CVS, which is the largest pharmacy chain in the nation by revenue, are also expected to be cut at around two-thirds of its U.S. locations.
In a statement, Walmart said the schedule change is based on feedback from pharmacy staff and customers. Just last summer, Walmart announced higher pay for over 36,000 pharmacy technicians, raising their pay to over $20 per hour.
