Walmart CEO John Furner has announced its stores will be closed this Thanksgiving.
Walmart’s Black Friday holiday sales events will instead kick off two weeks before Thanksgiving. The “Black Friday Deals for Days” – a month-long promotion event – is still happening.
A new shopping event being added to this year’s Black Friday is early access for Walmart+ members. The members will reportedly get access to the deals seven hours before everyone else. A Walmart+ membership is currently $12.95 per month, or $98 per year.
The deals will first begin on Walmart.com, then move into the stores a few days later.
Some retail giants, like Amazon and Target, have already begun their early Black Friday sales.
