The Venture Center and the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) are expanding their ThinkTECH initiative with a series of curriculum-driven events, including a thought leadership series on emerging technologies.
Starting the series off, ICBA and the Venture Center will host a three-part webinar series focused on cryptocurrency. This program will focus on the use of cryptocurrency in community banks, as well as the risks and regulations surrounding the technology. The series will also delve into working with fintechs, Banking as a Service, and digital transformation.
“Community banks continue to demonstrate a thoughtful and progressive approach to deploying technology to meet the evolving needs of their customers,” ICBA Chief Innovation Officer Charles Potts said in a statement. “This initiative represents the next logical step in their innovation journey through formalized education meant to challenge and inspire how community banks approach and implement the solutions of tomorrow tailored to meet the needs of the customers and communities they serve.”
To date, ICBA and the Venture Center have collaborated on three fintech accelerators and two Paycheck Protection Program showcases. According to Venture Center executive director Wayne Miller, this program represents a commitment to innovation and education.
“The ThinkTECH Innovation Series is a powerful addition to the innovation culture that ICBA creates for community banks,” he said. “Education is the cornerstone of innovation, which is truly the path to success in this age of rapid digital transformation. We are committed to providing community bankers with the most critical educational content, in addition to the most relevant fintech solutions, and are proud to partner with ICBA to bring this educational series to community bankers across the country.”
In June 2020, ICBA renewed its partnership with the Venture Center for three years. As a result of this partnership, the two organizations will be holding the ICBA ThinkTECH Accelerator program through 2024.
