The University of Arkansas Press and the Universities Library are launching a collaborative publishing initiative to support Arkansas scholars.
This initiative, the Arkansas Scholarly Editions, is designed to highlight scholarship from University of Arkansas System scholars and experts. Through Arkansas Scholarly Editions, scholarship and work produced by these experts can be viewed online at ScholarWorks and can be purchased in print or ebook formats.
“We are delighted to make Arkansas Scholarly Editions available through the ScholarWorks@UARK repository,” L. Angie Ohler, associate dean for content and digital initiatives at University Libraries, said in a statement. “Partnerships between university presses and academic libraries make sense. As the academic publishing marketplace experiments with new models for open-access book publication, I’m excited to work with the press to find a sustainable solution that makes quality research and scholarship available to a wider audience.”
This summer, the project will begin with the publication of hin Safety Margin: The SEFOR Super-Prompt-Critical Transient Experiments, Ozark Mountains, Arkansas, 1970-71, a book from University of Arkansas chemical engingeering professor Jerry Havens and former vice provost for research and dean of the University of Arkansas graduate school Collis Geren.
