The Arkansas Unity & Heritage Festival Week will be held the week of the Razorback game against UAPB in Little Rock on Oct. 23.
Sponsored overall by 100 Blackmen, the Urban League, Steve Landers, Tyson and Ben E. Keith, the festival will entail a week of events leading up to the game at War Memorial Stadium. It will mark the first game against an in-state opponent for the Hogs since the 1940s.
Events will kick off on Monday, Oct. 18 with a scholarship dinner open to the public at the Razorback Letterman’s Club, located next to Gate 7 at War Memorial. The prime rib dinners are sponsored by Tyson, Ben E. Keith, Savers and the University of Arkansas Alumni Association. Tickets for the general public are $50.
On, Thursday, Oct. 21, the Mosaic Templar Cultural Center will host a ceremony for its planned Arkansas Razorback African-American display. The free ceremony will kick off a capital campaign to raise money for a permanent digital display. The event will start at 10 a.m. and include former Hog players. Sponsors are Ben E. Keith, 100 Blackmen, Urban League and the UA System.
Friday and Saturday will entail tailgating on the old War Memorial golf course. From 1-9 p.m. on Friday, the old pro shop will host a rib jam with ribs and sides benefitting first responders from UAMS and Arkansas Children’s. Tickets are $45. Sponsors are Steve Landers, 100 Blackmen, Tyson, Ben E. Keith and Urban League.
Live music will be featured all day, with voter registration and COVID testing with shots available from the Arkansas Department of Health.
Game time has not yet been set, but Saturday’s tailgating based at the pro shop will commence at 10 a.m. and will include food and more.
