Two Arkansas individuals – a University of Central Arkansas professor and the Arkansas Highway Police chief – have been named to an American Transportation Research Institute advisory committee.
Doug Voss, Ph.D., and Chief Jay Thompson have been named to the American Transportation Research Institute’s Research Advisory Committee. As a member of this committee, they will assist the institute with identifying top research priorities for the trucking industry.
They will serve on the committee through 2022.
“Our members serve a critical role in identifying and prioritizing the trucking industry’s top research needs,” Rebecca Brewster, president and COO of the American Transportation Research Institute, said in a statement. “We congratulate all those appointed by the ATRI Board to serve in this important role and look forward to working with them.”
Voss is a professor of logistics and supply management for UCA, where he holds the Scott E. Bennett Arkansas Highway Commission Endowed Chair of Motor Carrier Management,and is the director of the UCA College of Business’ Center for Logistics Education, Advancement and Research. He is also on the Arkansas Trucking Association Board of Directors.
Thompson has served as the chief o the Arkansas Highway Police since 2018. He previously served as a major in the Highway Police’s Division and the Oversize/Overweight Permit Section.
Founded in 1954, the American Transportation Research Institute conducts research, transportation studies and operational tests. The nonprofit organization is based in Arlington, Va.
