Sunny R. K. Singh, M.D., has recently been named the director of University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute as a hematologist/oncologist and director of the UAMS Baptist Health Cancer Center in North Little Rock.
In this role, Singh is in charge of all operations at the satellite cancer center, which is jointly operated by UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute and Baptist Health.
The center includes radiation therapy and medical oncology, in addition to an infusion clinic, which is located at the Baptist Health Springhill Medical Plaza, 3402 Springhill Dr. in North Little Rock. Singh, in this role, joins a team of medical and radiation oncologists, nurses and radiation therapists who work with UAMS.
Singh is fellowship trained in hematology and oncology at Henry Ford Hospital, located in Detroit, Mich., as well as at UAMS. With expertise in treating a variety of cancers and blood disorders, Singh was chief resident at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, Ill. Singh received his medical degree from King George’s Medical University in India.
“Dr. Singh will lead our clinical and research efforts at the UAMS Baptist Health Cancer Center,” Michael Birrer, M.D., Ph.D., Cancer Institute director and UAMS vice chancellor, said. “Our partnership with Baptist Health allows us to reach more Arkansans battling cancer, and I know these patients are in good hands with Dr. Singh and his talented team.”
With many professional honors and affiliations, Singh is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society o fHematology and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. Singh is not only a coauthor of a textbook chapter, but has also had several peer-reviewed scientific journal articles published on cancer research.
