According to KFSM, a local news station in Fort Smith, a spokesperson for Tyson Foods confirmed with them that the company has “made the difficult decision to close [the] Van Buren, Arkansas plant effective May 12, 2023.”
The spokesperson told KFSM the decision is a strategic one, aimed at “utilizing full available capacity at each plant.”
The plant is expected to close on May 12. Tyson reportedly plans to help the over 900 employees who will be impacted by the closure of the plant by coordinating with state and local agencies to provide them with additional resources.
