This week, several Democratic Party presidential contenders will be converging on Arkansas during the state party’s third annual Summer Gathering. Both Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minnesota) and former Rep. Beto O’Rourke will be coming for a weekend dedicated to Democratic Party activity.
The week kicks off Thursday, Aug. 15 with “A Naturally Blue Evening” featuring Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minnesota). The event will be held at South on Main from 6:30-10 pm.
“Senator Klobuchar’s selfless dedication to public service not only defines her career, but stands a model for our party” DPA Chairman Michael John Gray said. “We are honored to host her in the Natural State during our signature weekend.”
Tickets for the event have already sold out. Funds raised during the event are to be used for support Democratic candidates’ campaigns in Arkansas.
On Friday, Aug. 16, the Democratic Party of Arkansas will hold the DPA Block Party from 6-9 p.m. Set up on the street in front of DPA headquarters, there will be activist booths, local merchants, food trucks and more.
The weekend will culminate with the third annual Clinton Dinner at the Statehouse Convention Center. Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke, who is currently a 2020 presidential candidate, will deliver the evening’s keynote address.
The dinner will take place Saturday, Aug. 17, from 7-9 p.m., at the Statehouse Convention Center. Tickets for the event are $125.
