Social distancing guidelines that are set to expire at the end of April will not be renewed according to the White House.
President Donald Trump announced that national social distancing guidelines would be allowed to expire on April 30 and that state governors would be responsible for overseeing any social distancing requirements.
Trump’s administration originally provided a set of two-week social distancing guidelines, which was later extended for 30 more days. The guidelines called for individuals to limit contact with others by working from home, avoiding unnecessary travel and other measures.
The news comes as states are working to reopen their economies. In Arkansas, Gov. Asa Hutchinson has set May 4 as the date for beginning a partial reopening of the state’s economy.
