The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has named Alan Tackett, Ph.D. as the deputy director for the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute.
A professor in the UAMS College of Medicine Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Tackett is a cancer researcher noted for his work on cancer biomarkers, according to a university release. Tackett previously was the associate director of basic research at the UAMS Cancer Institute.
Tackett, who holds the Scharlau Family Endowed Chair in Cancer Research, serves as a principal investigator for the National Institutes of Health, the National Resource for Quantitative Proteomics and the HI Center for Biomedical Research Excellence in systems biology.
He will reported to director Michael Birrer, M.D., Ph.D. In this role, Tackett is charged with expanding the research and clinical missions for the cancer institute.
