Simmons Bank has appointed Michael Powell to serve as the bank’s mortgage division president. In his new role, Powell will be responsible for the entirety of Simmons Bank’s mortgage process.
Powell has extensive experience in the mortgage industry, having started Cornerstone Mortgage in 1999. He grew the company from two to 24 employees and was recognized by Arkansas Business as the state’s largest independent mortgage banker from 2009-2011.
“Michael’s wide-ranging background as a mortgage division leader, chief operating officer and entrepreneur brings a wealth of experience to our team,” said Matt Reddin, executive vice president and president of banking enterprise at Simmons Bank. “Michael is especially adept at leveraging technology to create an exceptional mortgage experience – we’re excited for our customers to reap the benefits of his leadership.”
Powell is a graduate of Southern Methodist University and was named to Arkansas Business’ 40 Under 40 in 2004.
