The SouthArk Outdoor Expo will return for its 23rd year on Saturday, Sept. 10, as announced by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. The event is hosted by the South Arkansas Community College Foundation and will be held at the El Dorado Conference Center.
The Expo will feature hands on exhibits and outdoor-oriented activities including an aquarium from the AGFC, a chainsaw wood-carving demonstration, and an opportunity to meet Smokey the Bear with the Arkansas Forest Commission. There will also be contests, including the Hero 5k run/walk, a student art competition, an auto show and a barbecue rib cookoff with cash prizes.
Other activities include target shooting and archery, a Kids World, craft vendors, food trucks and local music artists performing throughout the day. All proceeds of the event will benefit educational opportunities for students in southern Arkansas, and the cost of admission is one canned or packaged food item to be donated to a local food pantry.
