With Governor Asa Hutchinson, U.S. Rep. French Hill and other state officials in attendance, SIG Sauer held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its newly expanded Jacksonville facility on Tuesday, April 16.
The Newington, New Hampshire-headquartered company is expanding to a 70,000 square-foot plant, located at 1809 Swift Drive in Jacksonville. The expansion is designed to accommodate increased production and workforce numbers. Since the plant opened two years ago, the employment numbers have skyrocketed from 50 to 160 employees.
Convincing SIG Sauer to move to Arkansas was a coup for Hutchinson. He says calling SIG Sauer CEO Ron Rohen was the first economic development call he made when he first became governor in 2015.
When the SIG Sauer factory was announced in 2016, Hutchinson said, “Firearms and ammunition is a growing industry…The fact that a world-class company like Sig Sauer is choosing to do business in the state adds to our momentum in manufacturing, and we appreciate this significant commitment they are making to locate in Arkansas.”
The Jacksonville plant produces ammunition for pistols and rifles, as well as brass components and night sights.
To aid with the plant expansion, SIG Sauer received several tax incentives. The company obtained funds from the Governor’s Quick Action Closing Fund, the Advantage Arkansas income tax credit and the Tax Back incentive.
According to Bloomberg, SIG Sauer manufactures and sells firearms and accessories for the military, law enforcement and civilian markets. Its products include pistols, rifles, sights, suppressors, scopes, ammunition and more.
