Three University of Arkansas System students have completed their work as part of the Spring 2021 cohort for Science Venture Studio.
A Startup Junkie program, Science Venture Studio pairs students with different companies that are working toward submitting Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) proposals. During their fellowships, the students provide support to the companies to help with technology and market research.
The three students were Astha Malhotra, Toma Tomonari and Jean Morales.
Malhotra is a Ph.D. student at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She collaborated with Lineus Medical on a funding proposal with the NIH Catalyze Program.
Tomonari is a graduating senior from the University of Arkansas. He was paired with WattGlass, working with them on the company’s NASA Phase II proposal.
Morales is a master’s degree student, studying microelectronic and photonics at the University of Arkansas. He was paired with Catalyze H20, helping with customer discovery.
Science Venture Studio is currently seeking two senior-level or graduate-level students for summer fellowships. The fellowships would require 20-hours of work per week and would have a $5,000 stipend.
The fellowship would run from June 8 to Aug. 20. Applications for the fellowship are open through Friday, May 28 with interviews conducted June 1-3
