Sarah Huckabee Sanders continues to make the rounds of the state, fueling speculation that the former White House Press Secretary intends to run for the Governor’s Office.
Sanders is the speaker at a dinner hosted by the Desha County Republican Party in McGehee tonight. The event is being held at Hoots BBQ & Steaks, located at 2008 U.S. 65., starting at 6 p.m. on January 7.
Reservations are required for the event and tickets are $60 for singles and $100 for couples. Tickets may sell out.
Sanders has spoken at several local events, including the annual Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner hosted by the Republican Party of Garland County.
So far, Sanders has not announced any intentions to run for governor. However, a political strategist who requested anonymity told Arkansas Money & Politics in an interview that Sanders will likely run for the office in 2022.
“Every indication I’ve seen points to that,” he says. “The chatter in D.C. seems to be making the rounds that she’ll run. I think it’ll be, quite frankly, the biggest primary this state has seen since the 2010 Republican U.S. Senate race…”
