Carlton Saffa, chief marketing officer for Saracen Casino Resort, recently donated 400 turkeys to a Pine Bluff food bank. Rusty Mathis and Yvette Parker from food distribution service Ben E. Keith located and delivered the turkeys to the food pantry.
Neighbor to Neighbor is a food pantry and soup kitchen serving Jefferson County since 1984. It is a participant in the USDA Commodities Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), which provides monthly food bags to senior citizens 55 and up. The organization also provides emergency food and utility assistance to families in need.
“We serve a hot, nutritious lunch to ALL members of the community every weekday from 12pm to 1pm. All are welcome, no questions asked.”
The turkeys will be included in Thanksgiving baskets for the food bank’s regular clients, according to a post announcing the gift on the Neighbor to Neighbor Facebook page.
“This group effort will enable 400 families in need to share a holiday meal with their loved ones. We give thanks for our community partners like Saracen Casino and Ben E. Keith because without their help, we could never do what we do.”
