Arkansas Governor-Elect Sarah Huckabee Sanders has revealed she will nominate Captain Mike Hagar as the next Secretary of the Department of Public Safety and appoint him to serve as Director of the Division of Arkansas State Police (ASP) concurrently.
“I’m proud to announce that Captain Mike Hagar will be my nominee for Secretary of Public Safety & Director of Arkansas State Police,” Sanders tweeted. “Together, we will always support our brave men and women in law enforcement, decrease violent crime, and build a safer, stronger Arkansas.”
Captain Mike Hagar has been with Arkansas State Police for more than 26 years. He is the captain of Troop A, Highway Patrol Division – largest field command in the state – where he oversees a staff of more than 70 personnel. He also serves on the Arkansas State Police Associations’s executive board.
Before commanding Troop A, Hagar served on the Executive Protection Detail for more than 14 years and on the ASP SWAT team for 10 years.
