Ryan Mallett is the new head football coach at White Hall. The former star quarterback for the Arkansas Razorbacks spent last season as offensive coordinator for Mountain Home.
Deltaplex News reported that the White Hall School Board voted Tuesday night to hire Mallett. White Hall finished the 2021 season in the Class 5A state championship game, where it lost to Pulaski Academy. Last season, Mallett helped lead Mountain Home to a 4-8 campaign, during which it broke a 23-game losing streak, and a first-round playoff win.
At White Hall, Mallett replaces Bobby Bolding, who resigned in December.
Mallett played two seasons under Bobby Petrino at Arkansas after transferring from Michigan. The Texarkana product led the Hogs to an 18-8 record that included a Liberty Bowl win and BCS berth in the Sugar Bowl against Ohio State.
He was selected in the third round of the 2011 NFL draft by New England. His pro career spanned six seasons with the Patriots, Texans and Ravens.
