The Baptist Preparatory School Board of Trustees has named Dr. Rex M. Horne Jr. as its new president.
In a Facebook post, the school announced that Horne, the current interim head of school, will be assuming the new role.
“In my previous roles as university president and pastor, I’ve seen the positive impact Baptist Prep has made on generations of students academically and spiritually. Baptist Prep’s opportunities are limitless, and I’m excited for us to carry out the plans God has for our school in the coming days,” Horne said in a statement.
In September 2019, Horne assumed the role of interim president for the school. Horne was named the interim head in the wake of former school head Laura Bednar’s recent resignation.
He is the former president of Ouachita Baptist University, having served from 2006-2015 and the senior pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock from 1990-2006. He was the Arkansas Baptist State Convention president from 1995-1997.
