A recently paroled inmate from the Cummins Unit of the Arkansas state prison system tested positive for COVID-19 after traveling to Eureka Springs, according to the Eureka Independent.
Jad Perkins, 40, was recently paroled with no symptoms of the virus, Becky Gillette, an Arkansas Money & Politics contributor reported for the weekly newspaper. Soon after arriving in the Carroll County resort town, Perkins exhibited symptoms and tested positive.
The report further noted that Perkins was told to self-quarantine but did not and “apparently” infected one unidentified person who later tested positive. He was picked up by the state Department of Corrections for violating parole and taken to the Carroll County Detention Center, where several jail workers initially walked off the job in protest.
