State Representative and former House Minority Leader Greg Leding announced Oct. 30 that he will seek another term in the Arkansas House of Representatives, District 86.
“It’s an honor serving Fayetteville,” Leding, a Democrat, said. “The drive to serve is still strong, and we’ve still got work to do. We need to keep fighting for Arkansas families.”
Leding cited current work to help working families, address student debt and prevent sexual assault on college campuses as motivation to seek another term.
“We’ve worked to establish paid family leave and to pass legislation to prevent wage theft — two issues that could mean a lot to working families in Arkansas if passed,” he said. “And right now, I’m leading studies to address student debt and to prevent sexual assault on our state’s college campuses.”
Currently fourth in seniority in the 100-member House, Leding will rise to at least third in seniority if re-elected.
“Experience and institutional knowledge count for a lot in today’s political climate,” he said.
Leding currently serves on the House Committee on Education and the House Committee on Insurance and Commerce. He serves as House Chair of the Higher Education Subcommittee.
House District 86 includes downtown Fayetteville, the University of Arkansas campus and part of west Fayetteville.
Leding is married to Emily Ironside. The couple are expecting their first child, a girl, in March.
