Arkansas made history Thursday night as the Razorbacks softball team won a super regional game for the first time ever and claimed victory over the Texas Longhorns with a 7-1 in Game 1 of the best-of-3 series. The team was 0-6 against the Longhorns coming into last night’s showdown at Bogle Park in Fayetteville.
“Huge team win,” Hogs coach Courtney Deifel said. “It’s always a good feeling to win the first one.”
Arkansas has had an exceptional season. The Razorbacks won the SEC regular season and tournament titles and spent most of the year ranked in the top 5. Last month, Everett Buick GMC in Central Arkansas announced that it is extending a NIL opportunity to every individual member of the team.
The two rivals will face off again in Game 2, Friday at 5:30 p.m., on ESPN. If needed, a third game will be played on Saturday. If the Hogs win Friday, they will advance to the program’s first softball College World Series in Oklahoma City.
