The University of Arkansas football program’s recruiting head is leaving to join the Auburn Tigers staff.
Several media outlets reported on Wednesday that Joshua Thompson, the executive director of recruiting, would be joining incoming head coach Bryan Harsin’s staff at Auburn. The role Thompson will be taking has not been announced, but HawgSports reports that he will serving in a “director of football operations role.”
Thompson joined the Razorbacks in May 2019 under former head coach Chad Morris. He previously served as the director of recruiting and football logistics for Louisiana in 2018 and as a player personnel assistant for Texas A&M in 2017.
Auburn has been solidifying its staff since the departure of former head coach Gus Malzahn, who was fired in December 2020. Harsin was named as the 28th head football coach for the Auburn program after previously serving as the head coach at Boise State for seven seasons.
The program also announced the hiring of Nick Eason as the new defensive line coach. A former NFL player, Eason played for the Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals. Following his playing career, he transitioned to a coaching career, serving as the defensive line coach for the Tennessee Tians and the Cincinnati Bengals.
