Executive Director of popular Fayetteville motorcycle event, Bikes Blues & BBQ, Tommy Sisemore has announced that this year’s scheduled rally has been postponed. The announcement comes as prominent area businesses pleaded with the City of Fayetteville to cancel the event due to public health concerns.
Earlier this week, the Washington Regional Medical Center (WRMC) in Fayetteville sent a letter to city officials requesting the event be postponed, citing the statewide surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations as the reason for concern.
The University of Arkansas followed suit by terminating a license agreement between Bikes Blues & BBQ and the university that allows the bike rally to use campus space for the event.
Sisemore said rally organizers felt the event could not be adequately held as scheduled due to the changes, and that the rally is now postponed until further notice.
The annual event was originally scheduled to take place September 22-25. Bikes Blues and BBQ is the largest charitable motorcycle rally in the U.S. and draws large crowds to the NW Arkansas area every year.
