A new 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization has ramped up operations in Central Arkansas to improve sustainability efforts in the state. Established by local businessmen Courtney Little and Bob Crawford, EPIC Glass Recycling is now operational with crews actively collecting glass from both commercial and residential participants.
The new non-profit is designed to eliminate glass from overflowing landfills, reduce environmental concerns and reduce manufacturing costs. Recycled glass can be reprocessed without any degradation to the products it produces, meaning it’s 100 percent recyclable, infinitely. EGR strives to educate, build awareness and engage citizens to participate in this community effort.
“Many Arkansas cities don’t accept glass in their curbside pickup because of the hazards it poses,” reads a statement on the company’s website. “If not separated at the curb, glass can cause numerous problems with the recycling process.”
The organization says its efforts to divert glass from Arkansan’s landfills “will have a tangible impact in the state by allowing taxpayer dollars to be diverted from operating landfills to other more important needs, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, conserving the massive amounts of raw materials used to make container glass, creating jobs to help collect and recycle glass, and reducing liter through the increased visibility of drop-off centers and collection points.”
EPIC Glass Recycling aims to reduce glass waste in the Natural State by offering residential curbside pick-up, free public drop-off recycling locations, as well as commercial pickup services for restaurants, bars and businesses. The company offers drop-off services at its headquarters at 3101 Dugan Drive in southeast Little Rock. For more information, visit https://www.epicrecycling.net/
