A new scholarship has been established at the University of Arkansas to aid students from Pulaski and Jefferson counties.
Cathy and Kevin Crass have contributed $50,000 to create an endowed scholarship that will benefit new, returning and transfer students to the University of Arkansas who demonstrate financial need, as well as have strong academic records and a desire to complete a degree at the university. This endowment, named the Cathy and Kevin Crass Advance Arkansas Endowed Scholarship, will give preference to students from Jefferson and Pulaski counties.
“Cathy and Kevin care very deeply about education,” Mark Power, vice chancellor for advancement, said in a statement. “We are very grateful for their support of Advance Arkansas, as it’s one of the most meaningful initiatives that came out of Campaign Arkansas. We’ve already seen the impact these scholarships can make on students from our state, and I think it’s fantastic that Cathy and Kevin are adding to the support we can offer students from the Little Rock and Pine Bluff areas.”
Both Cathy and Kevin Crass are Arkansas natives, with Cathy from the Little Rock area and Kevin Crass from Pine Bluff. Cathy is a 1981 UA graduate with a journalism degree who served on the Campaign Arkansas Steering Committee for eight years.
