In October 2018, Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced plans to transform the state’s government by reducing the number of cabinet-level agencies from 42 to 15. The reorganization, he said, would result in a more efficient government.
The existing departments were rearranged and restructured to fit within 15 new departments headed by department secretaries who report to Hutchinson. The secretaries were announced in May and assumed their roles on July 1.
Now, there are new logos for each of the 15 cabinet-level departments. These logos will be used on all social media, email signatures and letterheads. According to a Governor’s Office release, all pre-existing stationary will be used before switching to the new logos.
Hutchinson says the new logos are intended to provide a cohesive appearance while giving each department its own visual identity. Each logo resembles the new Arkansas state logo.
“Each of the 15 departments has a unique role in state government, but the overall goal is the same: identify efficiencies in order to provide a better delivery of services to the people of our state at less cost to the taxpayer,” Hutchinson said. “I believe the unified design of these logos reinforces that message by giving each department its own identity while maintaining a consistent look across the 15 departments.”
Little Rock advertising firm CJRW designed the logos at no cost. According to the firm, the logos are designed to “facilitate streamlined communications between state government departments as well as the general public” and to be “easily recognizable.”
