Mumps have broken out in Northwest Arkansas.
As of September 6, there are 14 confirmed and at least 59 suspected cases in the state overall, THV 11 reports. While the majority of the cases are in NWA, concern is spreading throughout central Arkansas. The concern doesn’t pertain to the disease only.
That outbreak has students without the disease staying at home. Arkansas’s Department of Health warns parents to take advantage of a vaccine that can protect their child. That still makes some parents nervous.
