Former governor Mike Huckabee is returning to Arkansas.
After multiple media reports earlier this week, Arkansas Money & Politics has independently confirmed that Huckabee is planning to move back to the Natural State. He told a reporter that he would be returning for family reasons.
“We’ve had a house here the whole time, but with soon to be seven grandkids and all our three children back in Little Rock it seemed the right time to be permanent,” he told Arkansas Money & Politics.
Huckabee’s daughter, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, is also heavily tipped to run for the Governor’s Office in 2022 when current Gov. Asa Hutchinson term-limits out of office. If she runs, she will be facing multiple Republican challengers who have already thrown their hats into the ring; these include Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin and Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge.
Mike Huckabee served as the Governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007, taking over from Gov. Jim Guy Tucker resigned from office. After serving as governor, he mounted a presidential election campaign in 2008 and 2016.
Most recently, Huckabee and his wife have lived in Florida.
