A recently formed merchants’ organization is looking to stimulate West Little Rock by forming a merchant’s corridor in the area.
The Rodney Parham Merchants Association has created a merchant’s district in Little Rock that will be named West Village. According to a press release from the Rodney Parham Merchants Association, the district will be centered around the Rodney Parham corridor and will feature new restaurants and merchants while renovating the existing businesses in the area.
By increasing the number of businesses in West Little Rock, the merchant association plans to make the area a destination that is both a marketplace and an entertainment district. Deb Sefcik, president of the Rodney Parham Merchants Association, says West Village is the beginning of a major shift in West Little Rock. “Merchants are assembling now to draw up plans to ensure West Village becomes one of the most popular Central Arkansas destinations. We are hoping that this area is just beginning a seismic change,” Sefcik says.
Currently, the only confirmed announcement of a new business relocating to the West Village area is Grub’s Bar and Grille, which is moving into a former Chili’s, located at 10700 N. Rodney Parham Road. However, other announcements are “expected very soon,” according to the press release.
The Rodney Parham Merchants Association consists of members from numerous industries, including finance, health, insurance, restaurant, retail and more. Per the association’s website, the mission of West Village is to “create a marketplace for community members, residents and visitors to enjoy family-friendly experiences alongside a safe entertainment district offering a wide variety of restaurants and local merchants.”
According to the group’s website, there will be two public events throughout the year to draw people to the West Village area. In addition, the West Village social media platform will offer the association members to promote their business throughout the region.
