Delta Dental of Arkansas has named Katie Mehdizadegan as its vice president and general counsel. The promotion took effect Friday, Jan. 1, 2021.
As the vice president and general counsel, Mehdizadegan will serve as the company’s HIPAA privacy officer. In this capacity, she will oversee a range of legal issues, from contract negotiations to litigation management to regulatory proceedings to legal and regulatory compliance.
Mehdizadegan will report to Delta Dental senior vice president, chief operating officer and chief legal counsel Jim Couch.
“Since her first day of employment with Delta Dental, Katie has shown to be a superb fit and a tremendous asset to the company,” Couch said in a statement. “Immediately, she became a significant contributor to the Legal and Compliance team, offering great energy, ideas and vision. Her promotion is richly deserved.”
She joined Delta Dental in May 2019, serving as associate general counsel after practicing commercial and general litigation at Gill Ragon Owen in Little Rock.
Mehdizadegan holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and history and a law degree from the University of Arkansas Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law.
