As part of its 2022 agenda, MAPCO Inc. is divesting its locations in the greater Little Rock and Louisville, Ky. markets. The decision comes as the retailer turns its focus on innovation and its main markets, the company said. Details of new ownership or other details of the divestments were not disclosed.
In February, MAPCO notified its ‘MY Reward$’ members of the closures via email, stating, “After many wonderful years of serving your community, we will be transitioning the ownership and operation of 10 MAPCO stores in Arkansas. We took pride in being part of your daily routine and thank you for your loyalty.”
“This change allows us to make significant investments into improving guest experience at existing stores as well as growing the MAPCO brand,” the company said in a statement to CSP Daily News. “We are confident that these moves will bring positive changes to MAPCO and the communities where we participate, allow us to continue to serve better breaks and deliver convenience you can trust in 2022 and beyond.”
The Casey’s convenience store company has purchased several of the MAPCO properties in the Little Rock area recently, including locations in North Little Rock, midtown and Bryant. The popular convenience store chain underwent its first ever full-scale rebrand in 2020 during which it dropped the “General Store” title from its name. There are currently over a dozen Casey’s store operating in the greater Little Rock area.
