Professional football is headed to Arkansas, as to Major League Football (MLFB) has confirmed Little Rock as a host city.
MLFB is a developmental league in which players can participate to receive more coaching for another look by the NFL and other professional leagues, to play after having injuries that prevented or restricted tryout for the NFL, or those with the skill and talent needed to have the opportunity to play at a professional level.
Little Rock is the third home city for the inaugural season, which will start on Aug. 9.
Canton, Ohio and Virginia Beach, Virginia were previously announced as host cities, with a fourth and final host city to be announced soon.
The Arkansas Attack will play at War Memorial Stadium for its home games.
“Today I am thrilled to announce Little Rock as MLFB’s third host city,” said Frank Murtha, MLFB CEO. “Like Canton and Virginia Beach, we believe Little Rock is a perfect partner as we begin the final drive toward our season kick off on Aug. 9.”
MLFB is unique in its core principles, which include an exciting brand of football, development opportunities and players and coaches and a sustainable business model. Little Rock, Canton and Virginia Beach markets’ demographics, civic support and facilities are a perfect fit for the league, according to Murtha.
“Little Rock, Canton and Virginia Beach all welcomed us with a true sense of partnership and all three strongly support and believe in our league’s vision,” Murtha said.
The fourth host city will be announced soon, providing a solid foundation for the fall season as well as building momentum into the spring 2023 season.
“While we’re proud of all the hard work and the challenges we’ve overcome to get cleats in the grass this Aug., our ultimate goal is to become America’s true home for professional spring football,” Murtha said.
The MLFB has announced Terry Shea, Earnest Wilson, Jerry Glanville and Bill Conley as head coaches for its inaugural season. These coaching options are stacked with more than 150 combined years of coaching experience across all levels of football and a passion for leading in the personal and professional development of their players.
Wilson will be the head coach of the Arkansas Attack, and has an affinity for wide-open offense. Wilson was also an early adopter of the popular “Air Raid” offense, working with championship coaches such as Tony Dungy, Dennis Green and others. Wilson has served as offensive coordinator at Jackson State and Hampton College as well as Head Coach at Elizabeth City State.
Along with the final host city, upcoming MLFB announcements include training camp dates and locations, a full league game schedule and ticket purchasing options.
