The faculty assembly at Lyon College in Batesville has approved an expanded mission statement to include offering “select graduate programs,” as well as a proposed RN to BSN nursing program, in partnership with Batesville’s White River Medical Center and the overall White River Health System.
Lyon College is a private, liberal arts institution located in Batesville, Ark. Lyon is the oldest college in the state with its original charter. Ranked by US News & World Report as a 2022 “Best College,” Lyon currently enrolls approximately 600 students from over 30 states and 18 countries.
“Through the past two years, we have all been reminded just how critically important skilled nurses are to our community,” said Melissa Taverner, president of Lyon College. “We are proud to partner with our neighbors at White River Medical Center on this wonderful opportunity to serve the Batesville community.”
Pending approval from the Board of Trustees and the College’s regional accreditor, the Higher Learning Commission, the nursing program could begin in 2023 and would utilize both the Lyon campus and WRHS resources.
