Votes have started coming in for state elections and will continue to be reported as the night goes on.
The major statewide election that is being watched on Super Tuesday is the state Supreme Court showdown. Barbara Webb and Morgan “Chip” Welch are vying for Josephine “Jo” Hart’s Supreme Court seat, which she is not seeking re-election for.
Currently, Webb is leading Welch with 54.4 percent of the vote. She has received 38,321 votes compared to his 32,072 votes. However, only 10 percent of polling stations have reported so far.
Two appeals court seats are also being contested. The District 4, Position 2 seat and the District 5 seat are up for election.
The District 4 seat is being contested by Stephanie Barrett and Emily White. Currently, Barrett is leading the race with 8,330 votes or 61.5 percent of the vote.
The District 5 seat is between Mark Klappenbach and James McMenis. Klappenbach is ahead with 55.9 percent of the vote. He has received 143 votes as of 8:15 p.m.
