Every year, Junior Achievement of Arkansas recognizes individuals who have supported academic excellence and worked to increase financial literacy education in the state. During its Legacy Award Luncheon, the organization spotlights individuals who have made an impact while raising funds to support Junior Achievement’s continued efforts.
In 2020, Junior Achievement will be taking its Legacy Awards Luncheon virtual, livestreaming the event on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 12 p.m.
Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge and AT&T president Ronnie Dedman will both receive the Legacy Award from Junior Achievement of Arkansas, while Little Rock School District superintendent Michael Poore will receive the Educator Award. The Legacy Award recognizes “individuals who have displayed exceptional leadership in supporting academic excellence in Arkansas,” according to JA Arkansas’ website.
The virtual event will be emceed by AY Media editor-at-large Lisa Fischer, and AY Media and Arkansas Money & Politics publisher Heather Baker will serve as the honorary chair.
In addition to recognizing individuals, the Legacy Awards Luncheon serves as Junior Achievement’s largest fundraiser for the year. The organization has set a $126,000 goal, which will be utilized to continue its financial literacy education and mentorship initiatives.
