Jonesboro city government meetings will continue to be held virtually in the wake of rising COVID-19 cases in the region.
As part of this policy, many city staff members will work remotely, and there will be no in-person city meetings. City council and committee meetings will also be held virtually.
Mayor Harold Perrin is extending the closure of Jonesboro city offices and making all meetings virtual for one week. He previously shut down the offices after Thanksgiving for two weeks.
As a result, city offices will remain closed until Dec. 18.
“I would prefer that we all worked in the office, and I certainly wish City Council meetings were safe for in-person attendance,” Perrin said in a statement. “But my priority is keeping people as safe as possible while getting the work of the City done. This pandemic is teaching us lessons we have never faced before.”
