Mervin Jebaraj has been named to the Community Development Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. He will serve a three-year term on the council.
Jebaraj, the director of the Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) at the Sam M. Walton College of Business, will be one of six new members appointed to the council. In his capacity as a council member, Jebaraj will advise the St. Louis Federal Reserve’s President, James Bullard, and the institution’s community development staff on various issues.
The individuals selected for the council positions are executives from nonprofits, financial institutions, universities, and other organizations in the Eighth Federal Reserve District, according to a UA press release. This district includes Arkansas and parts of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee.
Jebaraj has served as CBER director since 2018 and served as interim director starting April 2017. He has worked at CBER since 2007. The Center for Business and Economic Research conducts policy research and provides “applied economic and business research to federal, state, and local government,” according to the center’s website.
He obtained a bachelor’s degree in economics, international relations and European studies (summa cum laude) and a master’s degree in public administration and policy from the University of Arkansas.
