With the help of a new grant, John Brown University will be creating a new finance and data analytics lab.
The Schmieding Foundation awarded a $60,000 grant to JBU to establish the Schmieding Foundation Finance and Data Analytics Lab, which will be housed in the Soderquist College of Business. This grant will go toward construction and technology costs for the lab classroom.
This lab is designed to prepare students for finance, marketing and data analytics careers, according to a JBU release.
“We are grateful to The Schmieding Foundation for their generous gift to the Soderquist College of Business. Finance and data analytics continue to be high-demand skills employers desire, and we are fortunate to have this facility to enhance student learning,” Ryan Ladner, dean of the Soderquist College of Business, said in a statement. “The new lab provides a space to utilize current and relevant software and allows students to engage in real-time stock trading and data-driven decision-making.”
The Schmieding Foundation is a Springdale-based foundation that has invested in health care and education causes. The foundation has funded the UAMS Schmieding Center for Senior Health and Education in Springdale.
