Immerse staff and partners gathered at the newly renovated OC youth center for a ‘ribbon ripping’ to commemorate the reopening of the facility that serves young people dealing with trauma and crisis situations, on Thursday.
Executive director of Immerse Arkansas, Eric Gilmore, called the day a significant milestone. At the new facility, young people ages 14 to 24 can get a meal, meet with counselors, search for jobs and receive related mail. They will have access to the food pantry, as well as shower and laundry facilities and more.
Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott, Jr. praised the organization for its work.
“We have to have groups like Immerse that are willing to invest in our young people,” said Mayor Frank Scott, Jr. “We’re glad that this is one of the first completed projects to benefit from the City of Little Rock Asher Avenue South of I-630 and East of I-30 Revitalization Program. I’m grateful for everyone who has been a part of this process because I know they are changing lives and our community for the better.”
Helping with the unveiling of the new facility was Pulaski County Sheriff Eric Higgins who said that places like the youth center are essential to community vitality.
