Gov. Asa Hutchinson will be limiting his public appearances following a close call with a COVID-19 positive individual.
During a meeting last Friday, Hutchinson was present in a meeting in the Governor’s Conference Room with an unnamed individual who later tested positive for the novel coronavirus. In a statement, Hutchinson said that he was more than six feet away from the individual.
Hutchinson had both an antigen and a PCR test performed on Monday, which both came back negative. “While the meeting did not rise to the level of CDC quarantine guidance, out of concern for the comfort level of others in meetings, I will be limiting my public appearances,” he said.
It is unclear how long Hutchinson will limit his public appearances.
The Arkansas State Capitol closed to the public on Friday, March 13. Authorized employees, though, continued to work in the building during this closure. State officials reopened the Capitol to the public on June 1 for limited hours.
