The fifth annual Hot Springs Baseball Weekend will take place Aug. 26- Aug. 27 at the Convention Center.
According to a news release, this event was created in order to celebrate Hot Springs’ status as The Birthplace of Major League Baseball Spring Training, and this year, Facing Nolan, a documentary film told from the viewpoint of teammates and opponents, will be premiered during the weekend.
In addition to the premiere, fans will have the chance to interact with baseball legends and also be part of a baseball card show. Dale Murphy, Chris Chambliss, Goose Gossage and Al “The Mad Hungarian” Hrabosky, will be the featured guests at this year’s Baseball Weekend.
“This is shaping up to be the best Baseball Weekend to date,” Steve Arrison, CEO of Visit Hot Springs, said. “In addition to our traditional lineup of baseball greats, we’re opening the weekend with a showing of Facing Nolan, an acclaimed documentary about Nolan Ryan, told through the eyes of players who had the unenviable task of facing Ryan’s fiery fastball. This will be the Arkansas premiere of the movie.”
According to Arrison, Hot Springs expects a “good-sized” turnout for the movie. The news release encourages fans to arrive at the Convention Center before 6 p.m., when the screening time will start.
“Everything all weekend is free and open to the public, and it’ll be a wonderful way to soak up the fun aspects of the game,” Arrison said.
