On this year’s International Day of the Girl, Oct. 11, girls between the ages of 11 and 16 from the Boys & Girls Clubs in Northwest Arkansas will graduate from Dove’s Confidence Kit, a new program promoting healthy self-esteem by encouraging youth to appreciate themselves and their bodies.
The event will be held at the Donald W. Reynolds Boys & Girls Club of Fayetteville. Beauty and empowerment coach Dre Brown, Miss Arkansas 2022 Ebony Mitchell and representatives from Dove and Sam’s Club will celebrate program graduates from Boys & Girls Clubs in the surrounding area, which also includes the Boys & Girls Club of Benton County and Boys & Girls Club of Western Benton County.
As part of Dove’s Self-Esteem Project and a partnership between Dove and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the program was created to help young people deal with low body confidence and anxiety over their appearance so they can reach their full potential.
The program is based on world-leading research which shows that 6 out of 10 girls who take part in this type of program have better body confidence at least three years later. By offering this to Club members, Boys & Girls Clubs can help girls gain control of their lives and take advantage of the opportunities available to them.
