A groundbreaking to begin construction of the first hotel at the Clinton National Airport will be held Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 11 a.m. The hotel will be a Hampton Inn, a Tennessee-based subsidiary of Hilton with locations in 30 countries and territories.
The new property is planned to have 88 rooms, and is expected to open in 2023. Planning began before the pandemic, but was, like many things, placed on hold. After catastrophic decline in passengers in 2020, the number of people traveling by air has made a significant bounce back, albeit there is a long way to go before reaching pre-pandemic numbers.
The Little Rock Regional Chamber is hoping the new hotel will provide a boon to the nearly 2 million annual passengers who travel through the Clinton National Airport, many of whom have early morning departures, late night arrivals or may experience flight cancellations.
The location of the groundbreaking is near the Air Traffic Control Tower off East Roosevelt Road.
