U.S. Rep. French Hill has emerged victorious in the 2020 election, retaining the 2nd District House of Representatives seat. The Associated Press called the election in Hill’s favor on Tuesday night.
Hill defeated his challenger, state Sen. Joyce Elliott, in the closest Congressional race in in Arkansas this election cycle. The race had been considered a toss-up between the two candidates by several national political analysts.
However, Hill has captured 55.1 percent of the vote as of Tuesday night, compared to Elliott’s 44.9 percent. As of this article’s publication, 83 percent of the District 2 votes have been counted.
Republicans retained control of all its House seats in the 2020 election. In addition to Hill, U.S. Reps. Steve Womack and Bruce Westerman were declared winners by the Associated Press. I.S. Rep. Rick Crawford also retained his seat but he was unopposed in the election.
Tom Cotton held onto his Senate seat, sealing the Republican sweep in Arkansas.
