First Community Bank (FCB) has announced a new location to join the company: Conway. The announcement was made on Jan. 28 on the bank’s Facebook page with a video sharing the history of FCB and its future with Conway.
“We’ve found the right people, the right city, and now we have the right piece of property,” FCB chairman and CEO Dale Cole said.
The location of the new Conway FCB will be on the corner of Harkrider Street and Polk Street. This downtown space is projected to be a focal point of the area. “There is a lot of historical significance with that corner,” Bart Castleberry, mayor of Conway said.. The location has served many purposes in the past including a car dealership and Second Baptist Church. “This will be very transformational for a very historic piece of property here in Conway,” said Castleberry.
Downtown Conway has seen significant growth through the years, and the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce has been looking for investment opportunities like FCB to help further downtown expansion. “First Community Bank coming to Conway and choosing to invest in Conway in this way is huge,” Brad Lacey, president and CEO of Conway Area Chamber of Commerce, said in the announcement. “To see something this large come into the heart of downtown is a real game changer for us.”
A team has been organized for the Conway location, including Eduard Millan, a personal banker for FCB in Conway. Millan is bilingual and has a mission to serve the Hispanic community of Conway with their banking needs. “It is very important for us to represent the Hispanic community, and the more than 60 nationalities represented in our community,” said Millan. A client of Millan’s, Francisco Yanez, owner of Las Delicias and many other businesses in Conway, shared the importance of banks being involved in the Hispanic community. “Even though I am completely bilingual, whenever we are talking about transactions, especially with banks or legal transactions, it is very important that these are in one’s language,” said Yanez in the video. “We are very grateful that First Community Bank has come to the city of Conway and is providing help to the Hispanic community.”
The current location of the FCB in Conway is at 1089 Front Street, and Grant Gordy, Conway Community Bank president, shared details of location during construction of the new building. “I am thrilled to announce that we will have a modular unit during the construction phase of 766 Harkrider to meet your full service banking needs in the interim,” said Gordy. “We couldn’t be more excited to contribute to the city of Conway and Faulkner County.”
